O’Neill PsychoFreak 3347 – You’re in for a nice treat if you’re a fan of O’Neill Wetsuits. O’Neill changed the styles and materials on several wetsuits for 2010 and made some warmer more flexible wetsuits for winter 2010.
O’Neill PsychoFreak – Model 3347
Last year, we saw the introduction of the O’Neill PsychoFreak wetsuit. In the first year, the PsychoFreak was the wetsuit of the year. It is warmer, lighter and more flexible than any other O’Neill Wetsuit. The golfball like dimples kept in the warmth and kept out the cold. The PsychoFreak wetsuit was particularly popular in Northern California, the Mid Atlantic and New England states. Why? Because it’s a warm wetsuit that’s super flexible, thinner, lighter and is the best wetsuit for when the water gets cold.
The new PsychoFreak 3347 was redesigned, upgraded and now comes in a different thickness than the 2009 models. New lighter foam, a lighter more flexible firewall and a smooth front panel for the thinner suits. The 2010 O’Neill PsychoFreak comes in a 2.5/3.5 mm wetsuit that is going to be a perfect replacement for your old 4/3. If you’re looking to get the new PsychoFreak you’re going to be happy with your choice. It’s lighter than the same size 3/2 and as felxible as any wetsuit you’ll ever own.
To take full advantage of the O’Neill PychoFreak, you’re living somewhere the water gets cold and so does the air. The PsychoFreak isn’t for Florida winters and is really going to show it’s good side when the water is in mid to upper 40s. If you’re getting into water colder than that, you’ll want to go with the PsychoFreak 3.5/4.5

I just got this suit a week ago. (3/8/10) Put it on and it felt great, i stayed pretty warm in cool Sonoma County water until……My fin on my board grazed across my thighs at one point and it shredded the suit all the way through on both legs. I cannot believe the fragility of this wetsuit! I mean I just got this thing and the first time in the water it’s shredded. I talked to Oneills customer service rep Joe, and he said it happens all the time. Heres a thought, fix it so it doesnt “happen all the time” I paid $550 for this wetsuit, so I am vry unhappy with it, so disappointed with Oneill. I would only recommend this suit if you can afford to keep a couple of of backups on hand, or if you really enjoy repairing neoprene, otherwise DO NOT BUY THIS WETSUIT! Its VERY FRAGILE and oneills customer service sucks.
Hey jeramy, I’ve heard similar stories about these ultrastretch neoprene wetsuits. It really sucks about the suit and I’ve never had anything but excellent service with O’Neill so that’s a double bad. A friend got a Matuse suit and did the same thing, one wave and the fin cut the neoprene. They can and do make more durable suits, but they don’t have the crazy stretch. If you bought the suit locally, you need to go see that shop and let them know about it. $550 if WAY high for this suit and at that price, the shop should back-up their products! Best of luck to you
This is one of the best high-performance wetsuits i have ever used. Yes the material maybe fragile however, that is a price you must pay to have optimum stretch. I am sorry Jeramy for your financial loss. I am also sorry to hear your local surf shop took you for a ride. $550 is way too much to pay for that suit. I have the great luck of living in ventura county and my neighbor is a rep for the company so my wetsuit costs are at a minimum.
Smile in the line-up and stay outta Ventura there isnt really any good waves here anyway.
Hi Guys,
Where did you get the suit at a good price? Can you say on this board?
HBCSurf has the PsychoFreak here for a good price. You have to use a coupon code, but it saves almost $50 so totally worth it. Ends up being around $450 shipped – good deal.
